Moravian College Faculty Artists’ Work on Display in Payne Gallery

Bethlehem, Pa., March 11, 2015—Payne Gallery will present the Biennial Moravian College Faculty Show from March 17 to April 17, featuring the work of the Art Department faculty members. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, March 17, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  An Artist Talk will be held on Monday, March 21 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The exhibit, reception and artist talk are open to the public and admission is free of charge.

Among the faculty members exhibiting the works are the very talented: Natessa Amin, Josh Azzsarella, Kristin Baxter, Jan Ciganick, Ted Colegrove, Renzo Faggioli, Angela Fraleigh, Jeff Hurwitz, Kristine Kotsch, Elizabeth Krenos, Ashley Kuhn, Camille Murphy, Luke Wynne, and Doug Zucco.

"The Moravian College Art Department cultivates a vibrant academic community committed to creative and critical thinking," said Professor Angela Fraleigh, chair of the Art Department.  "The program focuses on promoting invention, research, and curiosity to construct new knowledge, foster self-expression, and explore visual communication."

"The faculty ensures that students are provided with a strong, personalized academic major, combined with innovative hands-on learning experiences and opportunities for community engagement and collaboration," Fraleigh continued. "The department is committed to providing professional opportunities through internships, in-house graphic design studio, student teaching, on- and off- campus student exhibitions, visiting guest lectures, study abroad experiences, student-run organizations, and participation in conferences, workshops and presentations."

The Moravian College Senior Thesis Exhibition will follow from April 21 to May 14, and spotlight four years of work for graduating senior art majors. The closing reception for the Senior Thesis Exhibition will take place on May 14 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. , marking the end of the 2015-16 academic year.

Payne Gallery is located on the Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus of Moravian College, in Historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. T he Gallery is open 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The gallery is closed Mondays, major holidays and during school breaks. All openings for the opening night of the shows are from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Admission and parking are free, and the Gallery is wheelchair accessible.
