Widener University Delaware Law School
I began my education at Moravian in the Fall of 2020 and graduated a semester early in December of 2023. I began my college career as a political science major because I knew that I wanted to go to law school to focus specifically on family law ever since I was twelve and stopped talking to my mother. Over the course of almost four years, majoring in political science gave me great opportunities to excel in critical thinking, understanding how to read challenging documents such as political theory, and taught me excellent note-taking skills.
During my freshman year, I took an introductory sociology class and knew that I wanted to double major in sociology. Not only was it going to help me in law school and beyond, but I found it very interesting. I also knew that I wanted to pursue a career in family law and that a major in sociology would lay the groundwork to truly understand the issues at play in family law.
Throughout my college career, I found it invaluable to make connections with my professors. I was inspired to pursue an honors project in Dr. Adams O’Connell’s basic research methods class and Dr. Wetcher-Hendricks furthered this idea in her advanced research methods course. To complete my honors project, I created a survey that asked participants numerous questions regarding their upbringing, specifically if they ever experienced child abuse, and their mental health today, specifically anxiety diagnosis and symptoms. Dr. Malinski guided me along this journey, and I am most proud and feel the most accomplished having successfully completed an honors project on a topic that is so important to me.
I was also a part of Pi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity, Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society and Alpha Kappa Delta, the national sociology honor society. I also worked throughout my entire college career and since graduation have been working at Hill Fenstermaker, an insurance defense law firm located in downtown Bethlehem!
I applied to law school in the Fall of 2023 and received eight acceptance letters from Penn State Dickinson, Widener University Commonwealth Law School, Widener University Delaware Law School, Hofstra University, Syracuse University, Rutgers University, the University of DC, and Pace University. I ultimately decided that I will be attending Widener University Delaware Law School in the Fall of 2024 and I plan on participating in legal clinics to best prepare me for family law. I am truly grateful for all of the experiences and growth I’ve had during my time in the sociology department at 91¿´Æ¬.
