91心頭 is aware that efforts to contain the global pandemic of Novel Coronavirus have had profound impacts on daily life, including the process of applying to college or graduate school and to studying in the USA. We are working across the college to ensure that students can enroll and study as expected for the Fall 2020 semester. Please be aware that everything regarding COVID-19 is very fluid.

Frequently Asked Questions
Since all classes are now remote, will I lose my F-1 status?
No, as long as you are enrolled in full-time study (for undergraduate students this is 12 or more credits/ 3 or more units; for graduate students this is at least 9 credits per semester) and are making good academic progress, you will not lose your F-1 status.
What does the pass/no credit option mean?
Normally students cannot use the pass-no credit option for any courses in their major, minor, or for LINC requirements. Because of the COVID-19 situation, the University has changed this regulation for the Spring 2020 term. Students can talk with their advisor to determine if changing a course to Pass/No-Credit is right for them. More information can be found here.
Will my F-1 student status be impacted if I leave the United States?
No, due to the COVID-19 situation, the U.S. government is allowing students to return to their home countries and complete their semester remotely.
No, as long as you are enrolled in full-time studies. For undergraduates this is 12 or more credits (3 or more units); for graduate students this is at least 9 credits per semester. For the Spring 2020 semester, the 5-month rule will not impact your immigration status.
Will I need to reapply for an F-1 visa if I leave the U.S. in the middle of the semester?
No, as long as the expiration date on the visa stamp in your passport has not expired, you can go home and return without obtaining a new visa.
How can I get my I-20 signed before I leave?
Since we are under a statewide mitigation requirement, we cannot open our offices to sign I-20s. We will be able to assist you with your I-20 and travel signature before you return to the U.S.
Will there be classes available in the summer?
Yes, there are classes available in the summer semester. All classes will be held remotely/online. There may be additional opportunities to interact on campus, so please continue to read President Grigsbys emails to get updates on our campus situation.
If I am SACM sponsored, may I take online classes?
Yes, SACM is allowing students to continue their studies in an online format due to the circumstances, as long as ALL classes continue in an online format.
I am planning to stay on campus, what services are open?
All campus offices are closed. However, you can still pick up meals for the day between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at The Star (Main Campus) and Clewell Dining Hall (South Campus). Please be sure to complete the meal reservation form emailed out daily. Also, read all emails from Housing for up-to-date information on daily meals.

If I stay in the United States, is my health insurance still valid?
Yes, your health insurance is valid while you are a full-time enrolled student.
If I decide to go home, where can I store my belongings?
Please work directly with the staff in CGE to determine the best steps for managing your belongings. Each of you will have slightly different needs and we will handle these on a case by case basis. If there are any changes to this process, we will contact you directly.
How will I access my courses outside the US?
Please make sure you have internet capability to access your Canvas course sites, email, and for some classes, Zoom. If you need access to a VPN, please contact IT at ithelp@moravian.edu.
If I graduate in May and I am not in the US, will I receive my diploma?
Yes, the Office of the Registrar and CGE will work together to make sure you receive your diploma in the mail. You can provide your mailing address to Dr. Amy Moyer (moyera04@moravian.edu) when you are planning to leave.
Do I still need to pay the graduation fee, if there is no commencement ceremony?
Yes, the graduation fee covers the cost of the production of the diploma, the diploma case, and some other processing costs in preparation for graduation.
Am I able to return to the U.S. in October to attend the commencement ceremony?
If you have graduated in May and are not in the U.S. on OPT, you will have to apply for a visitor visa to return in October for the ceremony.
I am graduating in May, can I still apply for OPT?
Yes, you can apply for OPT, but please be aware that at this time USCIS offices are currently closed, however, applications are still being processed. Expect delays and check the USCIS website for updated information (uscis.gov). Also, be aware that many employers have temporarily suspended work or closed offices as well.
If my OPT application is pending with USCIS and I want to go back home, will I be able to return?
You should consider several factors before leaving with a pending OPT application. Will you be able to return to the U.S. and will there be any impact from being overseas (quarantine)? Do you have an offer of employment? Will you still be able to receive mail at the address you provided.
