Q: What style of riding?
A: We ride English and show Hunter Seat Equitation
Q: Do I have to have experience to join the team?
A: NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Riders of any level are welcome and equally important to the team. Team members range from those who have never ridden a horse to those who jump and show competitively. At shows, riders compete against other students at the same level, from beginner walk/trot to open equitation on the flat and over fences.
Q: Do I have to show?
A: As a new member of the equestrian team, you will not be required to show your first semester, but you will be encouraged to show as you become a more experienced rider.
To be eligible to show you must attend weekly lessons. These lessons are typically one hour group lessons. Carpools are arranged around class schedules and lessons are held and scheduled around your class schedule. It is required that a team member lessons the week of a show.
Shows are split up into levels: Open, Intermediate, Novice, Walk-Trot-Canter, and Walk-Trot. Each class has equal weight towards the team’s total, so the most beginner rider is as valuable to the team as the most experienced.
